Obviously no one wants to reveal their weight but we need a competitive element to this in order to push us all that little bit further. So bearing in mind we have 29 days as of tomorrow to Christmas, what weight loss do you realistically think you can achieve in the space of 4 weeks? (28 days -the extra day can be used as a day off to enjoy eid food!).

I hope to lose 9lbs by Christmas.

I would like to think that Salma can lose 10lbs but given the difficulties in losing weight I reckon that you mum and Salma can both lose at least 6lbs and 8lbs respectively by Christmas. Maybe I am expecting too much but you can at least try your hardest!

One thing which ruins your effort is thinking that over Christmas you can have a break. I don't think that is the case. I think that apart from Eid day, your only diet holiday should be Christmas day. Call me militant but we/you need to focus.

Ok ...........It would be good to lose half a stone, i will try hard. I am going to save my syns for 2 weeks before Xmas because i know i will not have the willpower to do without various things like yorkshire pudding and gravy, cheese and crackers, a mince pie and some cake, both xmas day and boxing day. Having said that i will not go overboard.

I have decided that on eid i will not eat halwa/samosa/curry but will eat kebab.chicken.yogurt, so i hope salma will include these things when we come down. If she wants i will bring a slimmers world tasty vegatable curry and a nice salad.

I have set my targets at 1.5 to 2lbs every week. That may sound low for a heavy person like me but I have learned that I have always expected too much of myself and I do not lose weight fast like I think I should. I am having my sins when I want because I am not depriving myself of what I like and on Eid I will be careful and at Christmas I will be too. I have learnet a lot about how I work and expecting too much, depriving myself and feeling guilty does not work for me. On Eid I will cook as I normally do but I will grill kebabs and try and do so chicken and salad and chutney etc. I still want Halwa though.

I said I was happy to lose 1.5 to 2lbs a week, that is my target on a weekly basis and that is as far as I will go.
